White supergiants are luminous, A-class supergiants that have evolved off from the main-sequence age, when they were once O-class stars. They are expected to keep swelling in size but cooling in temperature, gradually turning yellow, then a deep red supergiant of over a terameter in diameter, before exploding into a catastrophic supernova.
